Rick Odums
The American choreographer Rick Odums received his high school diploma at the High School of Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, Texas and was greatly influenced by Patrick Swayze’s mother, Patsy Swayze, and by the “Doctor of Jazz”, Frank Hatchett. As the artistic director and choreographer of the Contemporary Chambre Dance Group in New York, he staged various dance productions before ultimately moving to Paris.
In 1983 he founded the dance group “Les ballets de Rick Odums”, that intertwined the precision of Classical Ballet with the sensuality and rhythm of Jazz Dance. He is the director of the “Institut de formation professionelle Rick Odums”, an officially recognised training school with an emphasis on Ballet, Contemporary, and Jazz Dance.
