Raksan

Contemporary Oriental Dance
Germany

Deep grounding and a strong pelvis, a sensitive perception of the whole body, ever so gentle gestures of personal expression, community, a feast of the senses and of rituals in improvisation and choreography. This year, Raksan will set off for a journey from within to the outside with the participants of her class, and they will follow - swinging, vibrating, turning - the heartbeat of the drum and the wistful sounds of the Egyptian bamboo flute Nay.

Her charisma and virtuosity have led the “Grande Dame of Oriental Dance” to the biggest music halls in Germany and Switzerland as well as into the arena of Circus Roncalli over a period of 15 years before she retired from her show career and began to devote herself to a contemporary perspective on oriental dance.
