Frey Faust
Frey Faust is internationally a much sought-after instructor. He began his studies in pantomime, dance, and acting at the age of eight. Nita Little, the co-founder of Contact Improvisation led him, at the age of fourteen, to his own unique concept. Through an invitation from Marcel Marceau, he spent an intensive year of study at the former Ecole de Mimodrame in Paris. Returning to the United States, he worked with some of the greatest in the business, including David Parsons and Donald Byrd. Frey Faust devised the Axis Syllabus – universal motoprinciples – a method of movement instruction, with which he strives to assist his students by deepening their understanding and abilities.
The starting point of the Axis Syllabus method is to view the moving human as a falling body. Principles of centrifugal force, gravitation and inertia are applied in a circulating and spiral language of movement. The character of the undulating movement and the pendulum concept allow an efficient and differentiated application of pressure and energy that leads to a graceful flow of movement.
Frey Faust was at the Tanzfestival Bielefeld 2004, 2006 and 2011.
